Variety is the Spice of Life
February 25th, 2008I shoveled snow twice yesterday and it snowed again last night. Still, each day brings us one day closer to spring and that’s a very good thing. I love the change of seasons, it always gives me something to look forward to. I’d hate to live somewhere the weather was the same year round!
I remember as a young RN, I was a “float”, I never knew where I’d work in the hospital until I got there and checked the time clock to see where I was assigned each shift. The names of the other nurses who’d graduated with me slowly disappeared from the float list. They asked me, “Why don’t you bid on a postion when they post them?”
I answered, “Well, I’ve worked in every unit in the hospital and haven’t found any place I’d want to go every single shift. So I’ll just keep floating…”

That’s probably why the writing life works so well for me now. I can make everyday as much the same or different as I please, depending on the topics I chose to write about…
I spoke last Friday to the local Literary Club. They were very perceptive and asked engaging questions. It’s a nice reward for writers…to have their creations discussed as a relevant topic. Well, that’s all for today, I must get back to my writing…
